Shropshire Council

Information Governance Officer

Information Governance Officer

The Information Governance Team is seeking to recruit an experienced Information Governance Officer. This exciting role offers the opportunity to help ensure that Shropshire Council meets its legislative requirements in respect of Information Governance and improve efficiency in its response.

Information Governance plays a vital role in advising the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), Executive Management Team and senior management in the establishment and maintenance of the Information Governance Framework and compliance with legislation including the efficiency and effectiveness of these arrangements. It is about the way an organisation’s information is ‘processed’ or handled. On one hand it promotes openness and transparency – through legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations and the Publication Scheme. On the other hand, it ensures personal, sensitive and confidential information is handled legally, securely and effectively in line with the requirements of UK Data Protection legislation.

We would love to get to know you more so for an informal conversation about the role please contact Heather Jones, Information Governance Team Leader, 01743 252179
